Barleywine


I'm getting a jump on the Christmas season here. Or perhaps next christmas season. I'll have to see how long this takes. My goal for this beer is to make an ale with 100 specific gravity points (OG 1.100) and 100 IBUs. In order to accomplish this I'm going to use a lot of grain and a lot of hops. Then I'll feed it all to a large amount of yeast and see how things go.

In the end, the effeciency of my system didn't scale quite as well as I thought it would. I'll probably need to use even more grain next time I attempt something like this, or use a larger kettle so that I can use a larger amount of water in the mash and boil it down to my desired gravity.
